We received a strong brief from the clients and connected over a shared passion for architecture and classic cars. We understood what made their house a home, and responded with a contemporary, timeless design for their riverside section. Our approach was bold, sculptural, yet refined.
From the street, the home presents as dramatic, and well-proportioned. A concrete box seemingly floating atop a series of timber forms, cantilevering both the street and the riverside. Carefully recessed windows balance the forms and break up the solidity.
The street frontage is beautifully contrasted with the open rear elevation. This approach provides privacy where needed while creating a light-filled interior with a strong social connection between the living spaces and the sheltered outdoor room, pool, and garden beyond. The rich layering of textures effortlessly flows from the exterior inward. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows flood the interior with natural light, complementing a darker, minimalist interior palette.
We have designed a home that is sophisticated with a sense of calm. The consistent application of the original vision has created a cohesion across every element of the project, in keeping with our clients’ brief.
